πŸ€” Where are you putting off happiness in your life?

#SimonSays...

Hey there...

Okay, waaaait, wait, wait, can time slow down for a sec? βœ‹ How can it be Fall already?

With the change of seasons, one thing I've been thinking about lately is how we often think that something "far off" will make us happy. We think traveling to a new place, getting a different job or meeting someone new will make us happy.

But happiness will always be withheld if you believe it is somewhere else. Somewhere in the future....

The secret is to find joy in the people and places that are close to you right NOW. Being present and enjoying the journey is something I'm working on....and I want to encourage you, too.

So let me ask you: In what areas are you putting off happiness in your life?

XO, 😘

Jules

πŸ“– Content I’m Consuming…

πŸ—’οΈ Article - The Perils of Deferred Happiness (WSJ)

Speaking of happiness...The Wall Street Journal recently released a visual breaking down how people spend their time in retirement. The majority of a retiree's time is spent on sleeping (9 hours), relaxing and leisure (6 hours), and watching television (4.5 hours).

Most of us create this beautiful image of what retirement will look like, but the reality is (likely) much different. LIVE now. Find Happiness right where you're at.... don't wait until 65+

πŸ“š Book - 10x Is Easier Than 2x: How World-Class Entrepreneurs Achieve More by Doing Less

Since I'm working for a start-up now, I've been reading more entrepreneur books. Dan Sullivan, a leading coach for successful entrepreneurs, believes that achieving 10X growth is easier than aiming for just 2X. What the heck?

It's not about working harder; instead, it's learning to value our time more to create more meaningful connections and have more of an impact on our work. Basically, do more of what you're awesome at! (And leave the rest)

πŸ“Ί YouTube - How Anyone Can Develop The Mindset Of A Multi-Million Dollar Entrepreneur (Ali Abdaal)

Again, I've been reading and watching a lot of startup content and this is a MUST watch! Daniel Priestley, a seasoned entrepreneur and shares ahh-mazing insights throughout the entire episode. My biggest takeaway: There are five core strengths that can make someone a key person of influence, and like any other skills, anyone can learn and develop these strengths."

We can all be entrepreneurs -- it's learned, not innate.

πŸ“±Post of the Month ….

A few weeks ago, I attended Local Profile's Women in Business Summit with six hundred of my closest gal pals. 😜 Can't beat a day of mimosas πŸ₯‚ and learnings! πŸ“–

β™₯️ Product I’m diggin

🧊 Yeti Charcoal Hopper Flip 18 Woven Cooler Box.

Paul and I are headed to Arkansas hiking and camping this weekend we won't leave home without our favorite Yeti Zip Flip Cooler. It's the PERFECT size, and I'm diggin' how cold it keeps all our necessities (like Prosecco πŸ₯‚ 😜) super cold and fresh. πŸ’―

πŸ€” Food For Thought

πŸ‘€ Look up. It’s easy to get caught up in routine and move through the day with our heads down, focused on our own world, or distracted by our devices.Make an effort throughout your day to pause, look up, and notice your environment and the people around you. (And say β€œhello” to the folks you pass on the sidewalk.)

πŸ’— Quotes I’m loving…

Strength is something you can build, inside and out. β€” Dr. Gabrielle Lyon

Remember that a clear β€œNo” can be more graceful than a vague or noncommittal β€œYes”." -- Greg McKeown

"People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures." - F.M. Alexander

πŸ’ Final thoughts

As we begin a new season, I invite you to re-think your idea of happiness & connections...

I've come to realize that many of us, including me, can find ourselves in a rut sometimes, caught in thoughts like, "They haven't reached out to me, so why should I make the first move?"

But I’ve learned that if you miss your friend, just pick up the phone and call them. It’s unnecessary to engage in a silent standoff over who’s going to take the first step.

Happiness, after all, is found in the joy of shared experiences and the comfort of genuine connections, not in who initiates them.

Here's to a week filled with true happiness, connection & purpose.

Till next time,

XO 😘

#SimonSays... Hey there... Coming at you from 35,000 feet -- Yes, we've been jet-set the last few weeks, which has been awesome, but my inner homebody is screaming out! Which reminds me, I recently wrote a blog that resonated with MANY of you. I couldn't believe all the calls, texts and emails I received from friends saying, 'Wow, that's me too? (thanks for those, btw!) If you haven't had the chance, give it a read: IT TOOK ME 40 YEARS & SEVERE BURNOUT TO REALIZE I WAS AN INTROVERTED...

#SimonSays... Hey there... It's my birthday month! πŸŽ‰ And there's nothing quite like a trip around the sun to get you thinking.... You know how it goes – we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of chasing success. Society has this way of conditioning us to always strive for the next big thing – the degree, the job, the partner, the family. But in doing so, we often lose sight of what truly matters. We forget to take a moment to pause and reflect on what we really want out of life. It's like...

#SimonSays... Coming at you live writing from Watercolor, Florida, this week. Please excuse any typos or rambling since I'm (probably) writing this with a bloody mary in hand... 🍹 Back in the real world, I just started working for a new start-up. And I've been thinking a lot about the idea of "good enough".... "Perfection is the enemy of good" We often put a lot of pressure on ourselves to perfect something before sharing it with the world. But if we get caught in our heads, we end up letting...
